The Government has given local communities new powers to produce a Neighbourhood Plan, setting priorities for the development, infrastructure and use of land in a parish or local area.
The Town Council agreed that we should do a Neighbourhood Plan covering our whole parish area, which is required to replace our current “Plan for South Woodham Ferrers” by 2021. This will give local people greater influence over the plans and policies that affect the parish area up to 2036. The Town Council will be setting up a Steering Group made up of members of the local community and others with an interest in the future of South Woodham Ferrers.
At this time we are seeking any nominations or volunteers for the Steering Group. Although not everyone can be a member of the Steering Group, sub-groups will be formed to advise on specific issues, so all volunteers will be included in the Neighbourhood Plan process.
Chelmsford City Council is producing a Local Plan, a planning strategy for Chelmsford’s future. Neighbourhood Plans cannot promote less housing and economic growth than envisaged in Local Plans.
We are hoping to gather interested parties as soon as possible and therefore ask that if you would like to make a nomination, please contact Debbie Edwards as soon as possible on 01245 429445 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. We are planning to hold the first meeting of the Steering Group on Thursday 28th July 2016 at 7:00pm.
